John "Johnny D." DeSantis has 30 years of experience in thoroughbred racing in various occupations. He has worked in the publicity departments of all majorSouthern California racetracks and been a jockey's agent, racing official, writer and television personality for Santa Anita and HRTV. In 1999 he was part of the Santa Anita broadcasting team that won an Eclipse Award for Local Television Achievement. For six years he served as Executive Director of Kids to the Cup, a racing charity founded by the late Trudy McCaffery. For the last decade he has been employed in the online wagering industry and currently is Vice President Marketing/Racing for XpressBet.

The White Stuff with Jon White - Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. ET

Jon White has been a host for HRTV since the network's inception in 2002 and writes a weekly online racing column called It's Post Time. He also currently is a simulcast paddock commentator at Santa Anita and Oak Tree and a correspondent for The Blood-Horse and Washington Thoroughbred magazines. For eight years in the 1980s, he was a contributor to the Los Angeles Times, providing odds for Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Del Mar. In addition to a 25-year career with Daily Racing Form, White has worked as a steward, owned thoroughbreds and been Media Relations Manager at Lone Star Park. In 2004, White received the Mark Kaufman Media Award from the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders' Association "for excellence in reporting on the Washington Thoroughbred industry and Emerald Downs."

Vegas Racebook with Rich Eng - Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. ET

Richard Eng is the turf editor and handicapper for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and a Las Vegas gaming columnist for the Daily Racing Form. In 2005, he authored Betting on Horse Racing for Dummies for newcomers to the sport and penned the soon-to-be-released Daily Racing Form Casino and Racetrack Guide. Eng previously served as public relations director at Santa Anita Park, Turfway Park and Arlington Park racetracks. For seven years, he was a researcher and writer for ABC Sports during that network's coverage of racing and the Triple Crown. In April 2003, he won the $400,000 Orleans Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas.

 

Shedrow Confidential with Steve Haskin - Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. EST

Brooklyn, NY native Steve Haskin has been the senior correspondent for The Blood-Horse magazine since 1998 and spent 29 years at the Daily Racing Form before that. At DRF, he founded such popular features as "Derby Watch," "Kentucky Derby Trail," and "Countdown to the Cup," and inherited "Derby Doings" from the legendary Joe Hirsch. Haskin has won five Red Smith Awards for Kentucky Derby coverage and the Old Hilltop Award for lifetime achievement. He has authored six books on racing including the popular biographies of racing legends Dr. Fager, John Henry and Kelso. In addition to the Triple Crown races and the Breeders' Cup, he has covered international events like the inaugural Dubai World Cup and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, and is widely recognized as the Dean of American Turf Writing.

 

Weighing In with Tony Black - Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. ET

Tony Black, the 20th leading rider in racing history (5,200+ victories), is one of America's most experienced and respected jockeys. A New Jersey native born into a racing family, Black won with his very first mount, Stand By Me, at Liberty Bell in June 1970. He won the 1996 Pennsylvania Derby aboard Devil's Honor, rode Champions My Juliet and Candy Eclair, and was a George Wolfe Award finalist in 2001. His frank opinions from a riders' perspective offer listeners rare insight into the jock's room and lives of racing's human athletes.

 

Turf and Surf: Left Coast Connection with Rick Hammerle - Fridays, 11:00 a.m. ET

Santa Anita and Del Mar racing secretary Rick Hammerle has been a racing official for over 20 years, having also worked at Monmouth Park, The Meadowlands, Gulfstream Park and Golden Gate Fields in various capacities. While the straight-shooting Hammerle focuses on California racing during his weekly segment, his wealth of industry contacts from all over the country enables him to also address issues on the national scene. 


Big Race Focus with Nick Tammaro - Fridays, 10:00 p.m. ET

Nick Tammaro has been the lead website handicapper for Capital OTB (Albany, NY) for two years. Tammaro learned the game at the knee of his father, an old racetracker who guaranteed his son would be hooked from their first visit to the Fair Grounds twenty years ago. Tammaro qualified for the 2009 NHC after winning the lone available berth in the qualifier at Sam Houston Race Park and finished 24th in the Coast Casino's Horseplayer World Series. His selections and analysis are available daily at www.capitalotb.com.
