
Steve Byk
Racing writer and play-by-play broadcaster Steve Byk joined At the Races and Beyond as commentator and in-house handicapper in November 2005 and assumed duties as host with the introduction of At the Races with Steve Byk in June 2007. An avid race fan for more than 20 years, Byk has attended more than three dozen Triple Crown races and eight Breeders' Cups and visited more than 30 different racetracks across North America. He launched DerbyTrail.com in 2003, where his feature writing, prep previews and editorial columns have attracted a large following. Byk and trainer Chuck Simon introduced "Dee Tee Stables" in December 2006 and have brought more than 50 fans into the game as owners of Sumwonlovesyou, a 3-year-old filly. Steve is well known at Saratoga as chef-host of the Carolina Barbecue Co. Cafe on the Race Course's grounds, and his varied experiences and industry contacts provide him with a unique perspective on racing.
John Perrotta
Executive Producer John Perrotta has managed Due Process Stable, Star Stable and was Vice President of North American Operations for Magna Entertainment Corp., overseeing the management of 14 thoroughbred racetracks. A former president of the Thoroughbred Breeders Association of New Jersey, he has been responsible for the breeding of many successful horses, including two-time champion filly Open Mind, 1997 Belmont Stakes winner Touch Gold and two-time New Jersey champion War's Prospect. In addition to having run breeding and training farms in Kentucky, Florida and New Jersey, Perrotta has also bought and sold horses privately and at public auction. His 1984 Due Process Stable sale of the mare Itsintheair in foal to Seattle Slew for $4.6 million set a then record at the Keeneland November mixed sale auction. He managed the career of two-time North American leading stallion Deputy Minister and has raced thoroughbreds at nearly every track in the U.S., as well as in Ireland and England.
